Ideals, Not Ideas

A referendum on liberals, not conservatives

Give it to the Dems… they beat us at our own game. We lost not on ideas, but on ideals. As a party we are not united and the Dems are. OK, they are only united in their hatred of George W Bush, and their intense desire to control congress, but that was all it took.

Republican disunity and refusal to stand on principal, especially when things got tough, made it difficult for people of principle to vote.

· George Bush won’t secure the borders

· Bill Frist goes against us on stem cells

· Mark Foley gets “outed” as a homosexual pedophile

· John McCain – well there is not enough space or time to go into all the issues with Senator McCain

· A Republican House, Senate and White House cannot pass a marriage amendment when it is clear that an overwhelming majority of the American people want it

· A war in Iraq in which we are winning on the ground, but losing in the “air” (media coverage)

Even with all this going on, would it be possible for Dems to win on their liberal ideals? No, so they hijacked ours by running moderate and conservative candidates in key areas where Republicans were very vulnerable.

Why do we not get it? It happens over and over again. The Dems abandon their principals in campaigns and win, Reps abandon theirs in office and lose.
